Scope and Contents Daybook of physician practicing in Gardiner, Me., and surrounding Kennebec County area, 1 Dec. 1865-20 June 1874. Internal evidence suggests volume documents medical practice of Thaddeus Hildreth. Several accounts charged for vaccinations and examinations of patients for life insurance companies. Includes farm and household accounts and monthly tallies of charges and fees collected. Includes pension examination reports on Civil War veterans with case histories, 1869-1870.

Scope and Contents Ledger documenting medical practice of Thomas B. Anderson in Hanover and Caroline counties, Va., 1842-1843; some accounts settled as late as 1845. Lists patients, occupation, reason for visit, prescriptions, and settlement of accounts. Includes daybook, 1843 Jan. 1-Mar. 11. Several patients were slaves and plantation overseers.

Madill's daybooks (1857-1892) spans almost his entire professional career and gives a comprehensive view of the daily practice of a country physician in the towns of central Bradford County, Pennsylvania. The daybook entries are chronological and provide each patient's name, a brief description of the medical work, and the charge involved. Overview Washington Lemuel Atlee was born in Lancaster, PA, on February 22, 1808. He began studying medicine under his eldest brother, Dr. John Light Atlee, at the age of 15. By 1826, when Atlee started his formal medical education at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, he had already attended over 40 obstetrics cases. William Brower account book

Scope and Contents The collection consists of an account book, 1872-1883, kept by physician William Brower, 1842-1919. Accounts are recorded under the names of individuals, and the volume has a name index. Entries under each account list the services rendered and their cost, who received the service, and any payments made. The bulk of entries list only visit as the service, but more description, such as vaccination, is occasionally provided.
